Sub-Clubs
One of the best reasons to join the Hui is the ability to participate in our amazing sub-clubs! Our team of volunteer sub-club leaders have some amazing things in store for you this year. Make sure to become a Hui member and then join our "Fort Shafter Hui - Members Only" Facebook group to be the first to know what's coming up! Below are sub-clubs being offered this year:
Aloha Club: Aloha Club "Ambassadors of Aloha" volunteer and welcome new Southern Oahu military members and their families at unique historical, cultural, and arts venues on Oahu throughout the year.
Arts and Crafts Club: Let your creative juices flow with fellow members as we make a craft each month.
Book Club: Meet monthly with fellow book lovers for lively discussions and friendship!
Bunco Club: Members take turns hosting this easy dice game. Everyone is invited to bring a potluck dish to share and their own beverage. No previous playing experience or skill is required. All games include a $5 buy-in for prizes.
Explore Hawaii Club: Meet once a month to explore all the history and culture that Oahu has to offer. Last year, the group visited architectural sites, museums, and little-known federal government and military missions on island.
Hiking Club: Join fellow members and get to know Oahu and its natural beauty as we hike trails at a variety of difficulty levels around Oahu.
Mah Jongg Club: Learn how to play mah jongg! We play using the Wright Patterson rules developed by their military spouses during the 1920s; their club has been publishing the rule book as a fundraiser since 1963!
Meals and Mai Tais Club: Explore Oahu's restaurant scene, from hot new places to old favorites, with fellow Hui members.
Pickleball Club: It's the nation's fastest growing sport! A few of us are learning how to play and would love to have a group meeting for regular games.
Volunteer Club: Join fellow members for a monthly volunteer outing. We can always use more hands at the Fort Shafter Thrift Shop; this year we are also looking at expanding our outreach to help local organizations in our neighborhood, like the Kalihi Food Bank.
Wine Club: Enjoy the fruit of the vine while spending time with fellow members.
Yoga Club: The group will focus on spiritual abundance through yoga, meditation, physical movement, and mentally cleansing activities.
