STORE MANAGER Applicant must be a Military ID card holder (spouse of active duty, military retiree or spouse, DoD civilian, or a retired DoD civilian) and have reliable transportation.
The position is responsible for overall operations of the Fort Shafter Thrift Shop to include scheduling, hiring, and training as well as maintaining strict key control of facility. The Thrift Store Manager conducts job reviews, oversees financial operations to include deposits and tax filing. Additionally, they are responsible for incoming donations, merchandising, and store presentation. The position requires a good working relationship with the Hui O' Wahine Board Members, Thrift Shop customers, and staff. Great customer service and the ability to work well with others is a must. Applicant must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and be able to stand for extended periods of time. Also, the applicant cannot be afraid to get dirty or of bugs.
The successful applicant will have computer knowledge, a working knowledge of Quick Books, and at least two years of experience in retail management. They must commit to opening and closing the store from 7:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday. Typical week will be 18-25 hours.

BOOKKEEPER Applicant must be a Military ID cardholder (spouse of active duty, military retiree or spouse, DoD civilian, or a retired DoD civilian) and have reliable transportation. The position is responsible for maintaining and filing financial documents to include sales, taxes, and employee documents and records. The Thrift Store Bookkeeper prepared and distributes biweekly payroll, processes financial payments and deposits, and maintains and completes petty cash and bank reconciliations. They will also be processing sensitive information according to the privacy act. The successful candidate will have at least one year of bookkeeping or tax related experience or an Associates degree in Business or Accounting with a working knowledge of computers and Quick Books. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and be able to work with the Hui O' Wahine board members, Thrift Store staff and customers. Hours are part-time, approximately three to five hours per week depending on time needed to complete tasks. The Thrift Shop is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the Bookkeeper's hours are to be coordinated with the Store Manager.
